According to Exact Ventures, in 3Q15, the market for IMS equipment (wireline + wireless) grew 37 percent compared to 3Q14 to $553 million.  Both the year-over-year increase came entirely from the wireless/VoLTE segment, which rose 58 percent versus 3Q14.  The wireline segment declined 10% during the same timeframe.  We forecast that the overall market will grow 14 percent in 2015 as more and more wireless operators prepare their networks for VoLTE, voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi), RCS, and other services enabled by an IMS core network and that growth will accelerate in 2016 as operators outside of North America and select regions of Asia Pacific ramp their investments in these areas.

During the quarter Huawei gained share as operators in Asia Pacific and to a lesser extent, EMEA, drove their results.  Overall, Ericsson remained the market leader followed by Nokia, Huawei, and Alcatel-Lucent.  Nokia is in the final stages of acquiring Alcatel-Lucent and the combined entity would have the largest share of the IMS market in 3Q15.
